The Minecraft franchise has grown into an insurmountable megalith in the video games industry, evolving from a single addictive survival-crafting game into a multi-media universe with toy and accessory partnerships, gaming spin-offs, media projects like movies and TV shows, and more new ambitions we haven't seen yet from Mojang Studios.

Every year, one of the best ways to see what the immediate future holds for the franchise is Minecraft Live.

Now, though, Minecraft Live is adopting a different form. Rather than an annual event that will bombard viewers with a ridiculous amount of information both aspirational and immediate, Minecraft Live will now appear twice a year.

It'll be smaller, focusing on what's coming soon for Minecraft and reflecting Mojang's new approach to releasing smaller (but quicker) content updates for the long-running video game moving forward.
